Irene Doval studied Classical Philology and German Studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where she also is a professor of German Linguistics since 1999. Her research areas are language purism, German syntax, contrastive linguistics, spatial linguistics, and corpus linguistics. From 2013 on, she has been leading a research group that creates bilingual parallel corpora.
