Subjects: Musicology, History of Art, Visual and Theater Studies

When studying musical and dance action in the early modern period, cadence is a key term with an eventful history of meaning: In addition to various types of harmonic closing formulas in music, it also referred to the requirement of fine-tuning musical and dance movement. Based on the insight that dance is an essential part of music history, the Cadences series sees itself as a forum for interdisciplinary work exploring the interaction of dance and music in theoretical discourses as well as in social and theatrical practice.
