Cay Lienau is a professor emeritus of Geography at University of Münster and one of the leading experts on the regional geography of Greece and the south-east of Europe. His research focusses on rural settlements, peripheral areas and ethnicity. He continues to shape German-Greek cooperation and South-Eastern European Studies to this day with his pioneering studies, but also by founding associations and leading excursions.
