Turning Your Manuscript into a Book
Manuscript Acceptance / Peer Review
Once you have turned in your manuscript for approval, our editing team will evaluate it conjointly with our CEO. Together with the editors of the appropriate series and—if applicable—with their scientific advisory board we will discuss the manuscript's suitability. The decision will also take into account the result of the Peer Review.
Should the editing team's review give a favorable impression, your manuscript will in turn be forwarded to the editors' board of the publication series for their evaluation. If necessary, additional experts or members of the series' scientific advisory board will be asked for their opinion as a further step in the Peer-Review process.
For the purpose of evaluation, the manuscript will not contain any details regarding the authorship. In order to ensure a maximum of consistency, our reviewers use a special review form. Our Ethics of Publication apply.
Offer, Contracting, Funding
Once your manuscipt has been approved, we will supply you with an offer and a draft contract. The publication of your manuscipt might necessitate a printing cost subsidy. Also, a fee for Open-Access publication may be needed. Should this be the case, we will inform you on your funding options.
If you plan to apply for a grant at your university, a foundation or another institution, we are happy to support you in the process. We can supply you with the necessary calculations. Once your book has been published, we can also take over the settlement with your sponsors. Also, we offer you to send out the specimen copies.
Submitting the Manuscript, Proofreading, Editing, Printing
Once we have settled the financial issues, the contract will be signed and the final corrections to text are done. Then you will be asked to send us your manuscript in an open file, f.e. as a .docx, along with a .pdf version. We will thouroughly examine your manuscript before further treatment. Also, we will take a close look at all your illustrations, graphics and tables. This will take place regardless of the contract's stipulation regarding file formatting. The latter can be provided by the author—our respective guidelines apply.
Should proofreading or editing be included your contract, our experts will undertake these as soon as the manuscript has been set for printing. Our creative team will propose a design for the book cover and send it to you for approval.
Afterwards, you will receive the cover and content of your book as a .pdf version for a final examination. We will work in your comments and desired corrections as quickly as possible.
After a short while, we will send you the final version for print approval. Once this has been given by you and the series' editors, we will diligently examine a final proof of your book before giving the printing order.
Your book has been published! What happens now?
As soon as your book has been published, we will send you your specimen copies along with advertorial leaflets. Should you have ordered additional copies of your book, you will get these as well. Also, you will receive a digital version of your book's cover and of the leaflet. With these you can let your peers, friends and family know about your book on all channels.
Just a few days afterwards, your book will be obtainable in all German bookstores and with several web-based book sellers. Should you have contracted on an e-book version, this will also be availabe.
Together with our distribution partners we guarantee the long-term and global availability of your book.
We will also promote your book on our website and in our own List of Publications. In order to maximize the your book's availability, we will supply VLB (the German register of available books), the major German distributors (such as Libri, Umbreit and Zeitfracht), as well as Amazon (incl. their option Search inside the Book), Google (incl. their Book Search) and many others with the relevant meta data, with advertorial texts, cover images and key words.
Our themed newsletter is tailored for librarians, booksellers, scientists and other interested parties. It will draw their attention to your book without fail. Also, we will present your book at the Book Fairs in Leipzig and Frankfurt to a broad readership.
Your book will also be promoted to your field's experts at congresses and conferences. Even at events where we cannot be present, we will ensure our brochure to be in the conference binder and thus reach the participants' attention.
In addition, we invite scientific journals and all relevant platforms to review your work. For this, we will supply them with free copies. Also, the German National Library and the Central Library of Berlin will receive copies of your work, thus ensuring it to be listed in the database of Germany's biggest libraries.
