Alicja Sakaguchi studied at the universities of Budapest, Paderborn and Bielefeld. She obtained her doctorate in 1981 and habilitated in 1999. Until 2003 she taught at Paderborn University and at Goethe University Frankfurt. Afterwards, she has been a professor at the Faculty of Modern Languages at Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań (Poland). Her main areas of research are general and applied linguistics, esperantology and interlinguistics, religious language and mysticism.
