Andrei Oişteanu is a cultural anthropologist, historian of religion and mentalities. He is a researcher at the Institute for the History of Religions of the Romanian Academy, a lecturer at the Center for Hebrew Studies of the University of Bucharest, and president of the Romanian Association for the History of Religions. His books have been translated into several languages and published in Romania, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Hungary, and the United States. He has received awards in Romania, Italy and Israel.
