Betty Johannsmeyer specialized as a medical librarian after studying library science. She worked in various medical institutions and clinics in Leipzig and Berlin, including in a research department of the Central Institute for Cancer Research of the GDR and as head of the central library of the Helios Clinics. In addition to her profession, she has written numerous medical infotainment articles. In 2021, she already published Quasimodo hat Rücken. Ein diagnostischer Blick auf Werke der Kunstgeschichte (Quasidomo's Back Aches. A Diagnostic View on Historic Works of Art).
