Burkhard Josef Berkmann, born in Bregenz (Vorarlberg), has studied in Innsbruck, Paris, Munich and Rome. Diocesan judge and legal officer at the diocese of St. Pölten (Lower Austria). His research focusses on European law on religion and legal questions in the relations between the religions.
