Charlotte Schmidt studied Arabic and Oriental Philology as well as German as a Foreign Language at Leipzig University, where she also received her Ph.D. in Arabic Linguistics. Study and research stays took her to Egypt, Jordan and Turkey. She teaches at the Oriental Institute of Leipzig University in the field of Arabic linguistics and translation studies.
