Christos Karvounis, Dr. phil. habil., studied Ancient Greek Philology, Ancient History and Byzantine Studies/New Greek Philology at LMU Munich. In 2001 he obtained his doctorate, and in 2014 his habilitation with a thesis on Modern Greek Studies and Historical Sociolinguistics. Since 2007, he has been researching and teaching at the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germersheim, focussing primarily on historical sociolinguistics, intralingual translation, Greek language history and Bible translation.
