Dieter Dowe, Prof. Dr., is a historian. Until 2008, he was the director of Historisches Forschungszentrum (Research Centre for History) at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Bonn. He has been studying the life and work of Georg Eckert for over ten years. He lives in St. Augustin and Braunschweig, where he runs "Maedo – das Historikercontor" (www.historikercontor.de).
