Frank Lestringant, professor at the Sorbonne Université Paris and honorary doctor of the University of Potsdam, among others, is the author of more than 40 books on 16th-century literature, especially French travel literature to the New World and the literature of the religious wars, as well as cosmographic descriptions. Other important works include biographies of Alfred de Musset and André Gide, each of which was awarded the Prix de l'Académie Française.
