Friedrich Lotter (1924–2014) studied Classical Philology and History in Marburg and taught as a professor of Medieval and Modern History in Göttingen, Braunschweig and Jerusalem. He researched and published on Christian-Jewish relations, on persecutions and the legal status of Jews in late antiquity and the Middle Ages, as well as on church history, hagiography, and the period of the migration of peoples.
