Friedrich Reinhard Schmidt is active in organ, aircraft and mechanical engineering as well as in the electronics industry and was rector of Mittweida University of Applied Sciences from 1990 to 2000. He was also chairman of the Kurt Schwabe Institute for Sensor Technology Meinsberg and the Wilhelm Ostwald Society in Großbothen. For more than thirty years he has been engaged in natural philosophy and bridging the gap between natural and social sciences.
