Friedrich Tomberg taught Philosophy at PH Berlin (University of Education) from 1974 to 1979 and at the University of Jena from 1979 to 1987. From 1987 to 1992 he was a staff member of the Berlin Academy of Sciences, most recently as head of the History of Philosophy Department. Since then, his research has focused on the ideological currents of the 20th century, especially Marxism and National Socialism.
