Gudrun Schmidt-Kärner, Prof., taught Elementary Music Education at the University of Music Lübeck. She is a co-founder of the Förderverein für Jugendbildung und Wirtschaftsbeziehungen Norddeutschland-Kaliningrad e.V. (Association for the Promotion of Youth Education and Economic Relations between Northern Germany and Kaliningrad), which has been working for peace and international understanding since 1991. From 2001 to 2006, she was an advisor for relations with Kaliningrad at the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein.
