Gunter Spraul studied History, Political Science, and Slavic Studies in Heidelberg. He is a retired director of studies and first lieutentant of the reserve. He has published journal articles on the sinking of U 156 in March 1943, on the scientific working methods of Fritz Fischer, and on the Herero Uprising of 1904 as well as several books.
