Hannelore Schwartze-Köhler worked for many years as a physician at the medical faculty of Leipzig University, among other places, after completing her studies and doctorate. Following her habilitation, she headed the Institute for Pathological Physiology in Leipzig until 1993. Her pronounced interest in literature existed since early youth and expressed itself since her retirement in literary activities.
