Harald Weinrich (1927–2022), Prof. Dr. Dr.h.c.mult., was professor of linguistics in Bielefeld and of German as a foreign language in Munich after professorships in Romance studies in Kiel and Cologne. He was also the first German professor at the Collège de France in Paris, a European event. The interdisciplinary guest chair at Bielefeld University is named after him. Numerous high-ranking prizes adorn his academic work.
