Hilmar Preuß studied Russian, Arabic, and Islamic Studies and Specialized Translation at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. There, he has been teaching and researching at the Seminar for Slavic Studies since 2006 and received his Ph.D. in 2012 on Enlightenment, Educational Concepts and Writers in Russian Literature and Culture in the 18th/19th Century. He is currently involved in a project on empathy and taboo(breaking).
