Horst Haider Munske is a linguist emeritus at a Bavarian university. In addition to numerous scientific publications on dialectology, language contact, language history, and orthography, as well as on Frisian, he publishes, primarily in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, on the unsuccessful spelling reform, linguistics, and higher education.
