Horst Schmidt studied Comparative Literature, Modern German Literary History and German Philology / Early German Literary History at RWTH Aachen University. After working there at the Department of Comparative Literature, in publishing, and in journalism, he has been city archivist of Eschweiler since 2012. In 2018, he completed his doctorate in General and Comparative Literature at the University of Technology Chemnitz.
