Ilse Lauer studied German and Romanian Philology in Bucharest and Theatre Studies in Munich. She has worked with David Esrig since 1985. From 1995 to 2016 she was a lecturer in theatre history and dramaturgy at Esrig's Athanor Academy in Burghausen and Passau respectively.
