Joachim Born lead from 1998 to 2004 the Latin American Centre at the Technische Universität Dresden. Between 2004 and 2006 he was a professor of Iberian Studies at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. Since 2006 he is a professor of Romance Linguistics at the University of Gießen.
