Lucian Nastasă-Kovács holds a Ph. D. in History and Philosophy from the University of Iași (Romania). After working as a senior researcher in Iași, he taught and researched in Cluj. Since 2014, he has been the director of the Art Museum in the Bánffy Palace in Cluj.
