Michael Hoyer has moved between music, literature and philosophy since his earliest youth. Trained as an orchestra conductor at a Musikhochschule, and with a doctorate in musicology, philosophy and general linguistics from the university, he has been the conductor of the Bielefeld University Orchestra for almost four decades and is also a musicological and philosophical author, piano accompanist, composer and teacher of music theory. His music-philosophical interest is above all the relationship between language and music.
