Reinhard Thöle, Prof. Dr. D. D., is a emeritus professor of Eastern Church Studies at the Faculty of Theology of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and Professor h.c. of Ecumenical Theology at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology "Justinian the Patriarch" in Bucharest. From 1992 to 2017, he was an advisor to the German Protestant Church (EKD) regarding its dialogues with the Orthodox Churches and, in 2016, he was an observer for EKD at the "Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church" on Crete.
