Rüdiger Pfeiffer (1955–2021), a musicologist and violoncellist with a doctorate and habilitation, was a university lecturer at the University of Potsdam and at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. He researched music history and aesthetics, source philology, and the interpretation and performance practice of music of the 18th century and the present.
