Sarah Jurkiewicz studied European Ethnology, Islamic Studies and Theater Studies in Berlin. Following her studies, she worked at the Center for Modern Oriental Studies, Berlin. In 2009 she started her Ph.D. on alternative Arabic news forums on the Internet at the University of Oslo.
