Vera Bácskai (1930–2018), Prof. Dr. Dr. sc., essentially founded (since the 1980s) modern urban historiography and the history of the bourgeoisie in Hungary. She carried out her own research projects on the Middle Ages, the early modern period and the pre-March period and published her findings in several groundbreaking monographs and a large number of specialist articles. She was co-founder and president of the European Association for Urban History.
