Axel Azzola has been a professor for Public Law and Modern History of Law at TU Darmstadt since 1972. From 1998 on he worked as state secretary at the Ministery of Social Affairs, Health and Sports of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Living in Aurich in East Frisia, he was an active member of the Jewish Community in Oldenburg and helped to revitalize it.
