Beate Löffler studied Building Preservation and Architecture in Potsdam and Art History and History of the Middle Ages in Dresden. A job as a language teacher in Tokyo aroused her scientific interest in the cultural transfer between Japan and Europe and inspired the thesis, with which she received her doctorate from TU Dresden in 2009.
