Bernardina Rago is a graduate in Foreign Languages and Literature and Modern Literature from Bari. She was a lecturer of German in Italy and then a lecturer at the universities of Bonn and Düsseldorf. She holds a doctorate from the Institute of Romanistics at the University of Potsdam. She has produced various studies on the reception of Italian literature in the GDR.
