Hans Peter Hoffmann, Prof. Dr., is head of the Department of Chinese Language and Culture Department at the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germersheim. His research interests include Daoism, modern Chinese literature and the practice and theory of translation. He also works as a literary translator.
