Hedvig Ujvári studied German and Hungarian Philology in Szeged (Hungary), Greifswald, Vienna, and Munich, as well as International Relations in Budapest. She received her doctorate in German Philology with a literary thesis on Max Nordau's publication practice in Pest. Her habilitation dealt with the German-language press in the eastern Habsburg Monarchy. Since 2003, she has been working at the Institute for Communication and Media Studies at Catholic Péter Pázmány University in Budapest.
