Hildegard Maria Mader studied Romance Philology, Oriental Studies and Modern German Literature in Tübingen, Bonn and Tours (France) and Translation in Vienna. She has worked as a lecturer for German in Baghdad (Iraq) and in Assiut (Egypt) and subsequently in various positions in university administration and teaching, most recently at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where she taught German as a foreign language to refugees. She lives as a translator in Freiburg im Breisgau.
