Selina Krause studied history and Islamic studies in Bern, Berlin, and Paris. She received her doctorate with the present thesis from the University of Bern in 2009. The research project was developed within the framework of the all-Swiss, interdisciplinary "Graduiertenkollegien Gender Studies Schweiz" 2002-2005, in which she participated as a scholarship holder.
