Chris Maaß is a professor of Media Linguistics, speaker of the Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility, and director of Forschungsstelle Leichte Sprache (research unit Easy Language) at the University of Hildesheim, where she also heads the master programme "Barrierefreie Kommunikation" (accessible communication). She is the speaker of Deutsche Netzwerk Gesundheitskompetenz's (German Network for Health Literacy) domain Barrierefreie Gesundheitskommunikation (Accessible Health Communication) and an expert at the federal initiative "Barrierefreiheit für Digitales/Leichte Sprache" (accessibility for digital matters / simple language) of the German Federal Government. She is co-author of the Duden Leichte Sprache (Easy-Language Duden) and of the compendium Barrierefreie Kommunikation (accessible communication).
