Werner Creutziger (1929–2025) studied German Philology, Russian and French. He worked as an editor and translator from Russian (a.o. Dostojewski, Turgenjew, Gogol), Serbo-Croatian (Andrić, Selimović) and French (Potocki). His translation received numerous awards. From 1995 until 1997 he taught at Deutsches Literaturinstitut Leipzig (German Institute of Literature). He was a jury member at Deutscher Übersetzerfonds (German Fund for Translation). Since 1993 he was a member of PEN-Zentrum.
